On Wednesday, November 16, WiNGS, a nonprofit organization that helps Dallas women lift themselves out of poverty, will host its second annual Enterprise Showcase at the WiNGS Center at Ebby’s Place. The Showcase will feature business concept presentations from three Women’s Enterprise Center graduates, and feedback from panelists Mary Frances Burleson of Ebby Halliday Realtors, Carolyn King Arnold of the Dallas City Council, Cynthia Nevels of Integrality, LLP and Andrea Carter of Ernst & Young, LLP.
The WiNGS Enterprise Showcase provides three aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to share their business ideas with a panel of “judges,” who provide helpful feedback and encouragement, along with an audience of WiNGS donors and supporters. “It’s like ‘Shark Tank’ without the sharks,” said WiNGS CEO, Jennifer Ware. “The Enterprise Showcase gives our graduates a chance to pitch their ideas and polish their presentations in a friendly, supportive environment.”
WiNGS, or Women In Need of Generous Support, is a non-profit agency that helps women find their path to a better life. WiNGS programs help women become strong mothers, advocates for their own breast health, successful in the workplace, and financially secure. The organization, formerly known as the YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas, served more than 3,000 individuals in Dallas County last year. WiNGS is headquartered at the WiNGS Center at Ebby’s Place, named after the late Ebby Halliday Acers, whose life exemplified extraordinary integrity with a focus on empowering women.
This year’s Showcase was made possible by lead sponsor, EY. Additional information on the event can be found at ascenddallas.org/showcase.
